Parking enforcement hours: 7 days a week/24 hours a day

No physical permits will be issued.  License Plate number entered when purchasing your Parking Session will become your Virtual Permit.

Parking News

Virtual Permits have arrived!  For more information see Virtual Permit FAQs.

Fall 2018 VIRTUAL PERMITS may be purchased online NOW.  Purchase online with no convenience fee, enter your vehicle information, and make updates to your license plate as needed from your Parking Account.

No physical permit will be mailed out.   License Plate number entered when purchased your permit will be your VIRTUAL PERMIT.

Parking permit prices are pro-rated throughout the semester. Check the fee schedule to see the dates. 

General Monthly/Semester/Academic Year permits are valid in non-reserved spaces in lot B, C, F, K, L, N, O, PS1, X, Y, and Z.

New Pay Stations Installed

Pay Stations are located in Lot B, Lot C, Lot F Drive up, Lot F Walk up and Lot N.  No physical permit will be dispensed.   Your license plate number is entered when purchasing your parking session.   The license plate number entered will be your Virtual Permit.  No coin accepted, no change given, no refunds.

Pay Station permits are valid in non-reserved spaces in lot B, C, F, K, L, N, O, PS1, X, Y, and Z.


Purchase your parking time electronically through the PayByPhone app. Register online ahead of time to save time and elect to receive a text or email to extend your parking time if needed.


Commuter News

Compass Card

Eligible students can purchase a discounted SPRINTER/BREEZE compass card for $40 at the Parking and Commuter Services Office.   This compass card can only be used on the SPRINTER light--rail train and the BREEZE bus network in North County San Diego.

SPRINTER/BREEZE compass cards are only sold for a calendar month at a time and are only available for eligible CSUSM students.

We recommend that all compass cards register their compass cards with MTS.  If compass cards are damaged, lost or stolen, MTS may provide a replacement compass card.

Need a car? Reserve a Zipcar! CSUSM has partnered with Zipcar to bring self-service, on-demand car sharing to the campus, starting this February.  To use Zipcars, simply register as a member, reserve a car online or on your phone, use your Zipcard to scan into the car, and drive away.  When you’re done return the car to the same location where you picked it up.

As a member you get:

  • Discounted hourly rate for faculty, staff and students age 18 and older. Rates start at just $7.50/hour or $69/day.

Waze Carpool is a new app from Waze that matches riders with drivers who are traveling along the same route. Because riders only help cover the cost of the drive, rides will never exceed $0.54 a mile.
